Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda GCV160 self propelled Rotary, honda gcv160, transmission shaft

Question
Self propell has stopped working. I opened the case and watched the transmission belts run..all looked to be functioning. The drive control handle is cracked. I suspect this is the problem - maybe it is not being engaged properly. I can't seem to find this part or instructions on replacement online. Can you help? I have a "Weed Eater" brand-model number S55HY22CHA with the Honda engine.

Answer
If the transmission is operating properly then it is the wheel engagement.  There has to be a release to let you pull backwards.  This clutching system is usually in the rear wheel.  Look at the gear on the tire and the matching gear on the transmission shaft.  If not it remove the gear on the transmission shaft and inspect the key and shaft.  Be carful not to loose the springs. Service manuals are available to purchase from Honda or a Honda dealer.

Is the weed eater mower the same mower or another one?
