Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawn chief drive belt info, true value hardware store, true value hardware

Question
I got what I believe to be a 1988 Lawn chief riding mower.  Model #12-39F Service #228999 12.5 hp I need to replace the drive belt, as mine is too stretched out and falls off when I push the clutch all the way down.  I don't have a manual to lookup the (drive)belt # and don't know if I can trust the length of the old belt.  How can I track down the correct part number.  I've looked and looked only to come up empty-handed.  Any ideas?

Answer
General Power made your mower.  Unfortunately the company did not last long and it can be challenging to find the info need.

Call Quigley's Hardware in Fort Kent, ME (www.quigleystruevalue.com)
Or Dixie Sales CO (1 888 998 7298) or try mowerpartsusa.com.

If you have a local True Value Hardware store near you I would try them.  Many, many years ago I worked at a True Value hardware store and we had the parts lists on hand.  Very familar with your mower but after almost 20 years I can't remember the belt length.

Let me know how your searching goes.  If you can't match the belt I have a book somewhere that may list the size but it may take me a while to find the book.
