Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman and Kohler wiring, twin cylinder engine, craftsman model

Question
I purchased a Craftsman Model 917.273240 mower with no motor. It had a 25hp. Kohler.I have purchased a Koler 22hp. CV22S (67515) motor to go on it. The wire plugs do not match up. The starter on the motor had no solenoid. I bought a 3 pole solenoid to go on it. I can not figure out how to wire the mower up to the motor and solenoid. HELP PLEASE.

Answer
Greg,

the reason it wont work is the 25HP has a totally different wiring set up because it is designed for that Model mower.
However.
The wiring Of a 22HP Is roughly the exact same as any engine You just need the conversion kit from Kohler.
Or Sears
Unforutunatly I cant tell you how to wire the system up because Normally i would Replace the engine with the same series as defined by the MFR.
This May Help you .
