Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda HRB217TDA Wont Pull, rear tires, wont move

Question
Ben:

I have a Honda HRB217TDA lawn motor that won't pull.  It was weak two weeks ago so I adjusted the cable and it worked like new.  Tow weeks later will not pull its own weight on level terrain.  When I lift the rear tires they spin freely, with clutch engaged.  I replaced the drive belt this Spring.  Could the tensioner spring be stretched?

Thanks,

Jim

Sounds like you may have a trans axle problem. When the tires are off the ground it will spin that is normal, when you put a load on the mower it wont move. You need to check the fluid in the trans axle.If you get me the Model # and brand of the trans axle I can help you out better.
