Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Exmark Lazer PTO shut off, safety switches, fisrt time

Question
I have just bought this 2001 Lazer 26 hp and had to replace the flywheel. After getting it from the repair shop w/ my fisrt time cutting the PTO stopped ....any suggestions on what it could be and how to possible fix it...thank you

Answer
Exmark uses a double pole double throw PTO switch.  If you test it both sides of the switch at work.  Before replacing the PTO switch.  I would test the clutch.  If you can easily get at it, unplug it and apply 12 volts directly to the clutch.  It should click or engage.  If it does not, you will have to replace the clutch.  If you have a digital Ohm meter.  You can measure the resistance of the clutch windings.  The resistance would be0.3 ohms.

If the entire mower shuts down instead of just the PTO.  It is likely a seat switch or a delay relay.  There are safety switches on both control rods and the break and, but they are not in PTO circuit unless you leave the seat. You have to be sitting in the seat to engage the PTO.  Hope this helps your troubleshoot.
