Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Poulan 335 Pro Chainsaw Carb settings, briggs and stratton, briggsandstratton

Question
I own a Poulan 335 PRO chainsaw. It starts ok, but will stall shortly after starting. I have tried adjusting the idle screws and most likely have messed up the settings. i have misplaced the manual for the correct settings. I need to know if there is a site where i can either download the factory settings, or if you know the factory settings, or any other ideas you may have. Thanks for the help.

Answer
It is rare that when the condition you described needs a carb adjustment. Adjustments of the carb are usually due to the needle screws becoming worn over time due to the fuel passing over them. This takes a very very longtime. When the engine stars fine with a prime, then stops it's usually a symptom of the carb needing a cleaning, rebuild, and a diaphragm. Most start setting are about 1/2 to 1 turn out, then very slowing turning the screw out and turning till the engine begins to mis fire, then do the same turning it back in, then the setting is between the two limits. This could be a waste of time without doing a carb cleaning and rebuild on this model. Poulan Pro is now owned by Briggs and Stratton I believe, you could try to gain further information by checking out the Briggs site: www.briggsandstratton.com            Tom
