Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): White Outdoors/MTD Hydro question, extension spring, number 22

Question
Hi John,  I have a White Outdoors GT-2150 (Model #14BJ816H190).  I just purchased it and trying to get safe to use.  The Drive Pedal does not "spring" back when I let my foot off of the pedal, either in Forward or Reverse.  Is there an "extension spring" somewhere that may be missing??  I believe there should be a spring somewhere towards the rear of the machine, right in front of the hydro.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Please let me know if you need more follow-up data.

Thank you very much!!
Daryl

Answer
Hello Daryl:

You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Unit at this Site Addy, http://www.buymtdonline.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Home_YardMan_10101_19502_-... and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM (White Outdoor)  and Enter the Model Numbers (14BJ816H190). Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Unit you Wish to View. Select the Drive and Rear Wheel File. The Extension Spring you are Asking About is Number 22 (MTD Part #732-0716) in the Breakdown and is Attached to the End of the Hydrostatic Control Rod. For the Clutch you Might Check the Extension Spring Number 23 (MTD Part #732-0965) in the Breakdown. The Spring (#23) is Attached to the Double Idler Bracket of the Hydro Transaxle Drive Belt. Usually if 1 Requires Replacing, you are Better Served in the Long Run to Replace Both Extension Springs. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
