Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): John Deere LX178 Stutter/Stall, john deere lawn tractor, john deere lawn

Question
After I run my John Deere lawn tractor it will suddenly stutter and stall.  It starts again right away but may stutter again or it may not.  The fuel pump and filters were replaced, and the carburetor was rebuilt (boiled out).  I also noticed that when it's shut off it immediately leaks fuel from the carburetor... looks like it's coming from some kind of vent hose in the carb.  This sounds very much like a carb issue.. the float maybe?  Where should I look first in the carb?  Thank you ahead.

Answer
Hello Alan:

Did you Change the Crankcase Oil and Check it for Gas Contamination? Is it Contaminated? It Sounds like the Carburetor Float Needle is Sticking or the Float is Not Set Level. The Float should Rest Level with the Bowl Mating Surface (where the O-Ring Seal goes to Mount the Bowl) when the Carburetor is Turn so the Float is on Top. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers (LX178) and Click Find. Then Select your Model from the Search Results Area. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
