Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman 358.791580, tank fuel, exhaust port

Question
Hi John, I have a few issues with my Craftsman Trimmer. First off the fuel filter fell off the small hose in the gas tank, I think I need to buy a new small hose as the old one is split at the end any tips with that and where to get that small tube? And since that happened, the trimmer will not start, its like no gas is getting to the carb. I can fix computers but never tried to fix small engines. So please point me in the right direction. Thanks Chuck.

Answer
Hello Chuck:

To View a Breakdown of this Unit Go to this Site Addy, http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action and Enter the Model Numbers (358.791580) and Click Search. From this Page you can View Diagrams and Parts Lists for you Equipment Using the "View Sub Components" Section. Select Cylinder/Crankshaft/Crankcase. 1- Most Automotive Parts Retailers and Small Engine Service Centers should have the Proper Hose in Stock. Take a Section of the Old Hose as a Guide. Replace the Hoses and the in Tank Fuel Filter. 2- I Require the OEM (Walbro, Zama, ect) and the Model Numbers Off the Carburetor. With these I can Locate a Breakdown of the Carburetor and Better Assist you. 3- Remove the Muffler and Make Sure the Exhaust Port and Muffler are Not Blocked by Carbon. If the Exhaust Port or Muffler are Blocked, then you will have the Problem you Described. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
