Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Cub Cadet LT1018, Fuel Pump, Cub Cadet

Question
John, I have a Cub Cadet LT1018 with an 18.5 HP Briggs & Stratton OHV ELS 500 engine.  When I engage the PTO, oil leaks from the fuel pump.  When I disengage the PTO, the leaking stops.  I would appreciate any recommendation that you could offer.  Thanks.

Answer
Hello Rob:

Depending on Where the Oil is Leaking from the "Fuel Pump", I Suggest you Replace the Fuel Pump. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Unit at this Site Addy; http://www.jacobisalespartslookup.com/home.asp and Select the "Cub Cadet" Logo. Now Select "Shop Online Parts Look Up". Now Select the OEM (Cub Cadet) and Select the "Model" Tab. Then Enter the "Model Numbers" (LT1018) and Click Search. Then Double Click on your Model in the Results Area. Then Select Sectional View. Then Select the Section of the Unit you Wish to View. The Fuel Pump is Shown in the "Engine (Part 3)" File. The "Fuel Pump" Breakdown Number is; 387. Also I Suggest you Check and Clean the Crankcase Breather. If the Crankcase Breather is No Venting the Crankcase, it can Cause the Pressure to Build and can Cause the Problem you are having. The Crankcase Breather Assembly is Show in the "Engine (Part 1)" file. The Breakdown Numbers for the "Breather Assembly" are; 9, 10, 11, 584, 1263 and 1264. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
