Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): john deere model 116, electric fuel pump, john deere model

Question
How can i tell if the electric gas pump is working. should it have power to it when the key is turned on. i was told there may be a kit to put another pulse pump in where the electric is located.

Answer
Hello Richard:

If you have an Electric Fuel Pump, then you can Remove the Fuel Hose from the carburetor and Insert it into a Can. Turn on the Ign Switch and Watch for Fuel Flow. If No Fuel Flow and the Electric Pump has Current, then the Pump is Bad. There is a Kit for the Pulse Pump. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers (116) and Click Find. Then Select your Model from the Search Results Area. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. I Use the Mr Gasket Electric Pumps on Most of the Mowers that are Serviced in the Shop. It is Part # 12-S and Cost $44.88us as of Today in my Area. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
