Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): electric clutch, craftsman lawn tractor, electric clutch

Question
I have a Cub Cadet LT1018 lawn tractor with a 18hp single cylinder Kohler engine (model CV492S). I want to replace the engine with a 22hp twin cylinder B&S engine (model 40H777 242E1) which is currently on a Craftsman lawn tractor.
I only have one question bothering me; it has to do with the electric clutch on the Cub Cadet. I am wondering if it will fit on the new engine. Do you have any idea as to how I can determine if it will or won't without having to remove the engines from the respective tractors.
Thanks for any assistance you may be able to offer.

Answer
Hello Leo:

If the Crankshafts are the Same Length, Diameter, have the Same Key Way and the Mounting Bolt Pattern, then the Engine will Interchange. The Engine with the Electric PTO has a Larger AMP Stator, but that is Not a Worry. From Looking at the Breakdowns of Both Engines, I See No Reason the Engines will Not Interchange. You can View a Breakdown of the Engine at this Site Addy; http://www.kohlerplus.com/login.asp and Select Enter as Guest. Now Select the Thumbnail of the Catalog you Wish to View. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Unit at this Site Addy; http://www.briggsandstratton.com/maint_repair/manual_and_more/doclist.aspx?categ... and Enter the Model Numbers (XXXXXX) and Type Numbers (XXXX) in the Appropriate Boxes and Click GO. Then Select Download PDF. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
