Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Kohler CV730 Carb Solenoid Wiring, starter solenoid, shaft length

Question
I have a Kohler CV730 That I purchased brand new to mount on my older Craftsman Garden Tractor.  It mounts fine and shaft length is proper just needs a custom exhaust due to the bottom mount controls.  But I am having a problem with the wiring.  According to the wiring diagram the carb solenoid wire splits into to red wires.  If installed as the wiring diagram suggests to the key switch the one wire will always keep the solenoid hot if connected to the same terminal as the batt+ thus killing the battery.  Second the other wire, if connected to the same terminal as the starter (and later in the harness to the same wire that is connected to the battery) would always send power to the starter solenoid.  Even if the wires were installed with one to the run terminal and one to the start terminal the starter solenoid would still get power in the run position because the wires splice together later.  Please inform me as to the proper way to wire this to the key switch as to avoid these problems.  Thanks.

Answer
Hello Ted:

I Usually Run a Wire from the Ign Switch that is Hot ONLY when the Ign Switch is in the Run and Start Positions and has No Current when in the Off Position to the Carburetor Solenoid. NEVER have the Carburetor Solenoid and Starter on the Same Circuit. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. I can See the Electrical Schematic of the Mower and Engine. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
