Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): replace crankshaft tecumseh OH195EA 71156G, oil seals, power sport

Question
Is it reasonable to replace the crankshaft on a Tecumseh OH195EA (spec# 71156G) power sport go kart engine? I bought a used go kart, after the boys rode one hour the chain and clutch came off. I found the shaft to be worn down well through the key way on the outer inch.  I am pretty capable with tools, however never ripped into an engine block.  What parts besides the crank would have to be replaced?  Would I need any special tools for oil seals or can they be left intact?  The engine runs very good: starts easy, idles nice, responds well.  I know its a trade off between money and time.  Can I think about doing the job myself?  Where is the cheapset place to buy a crankshaft?  Thanks.

Answer
Hello Brad:

If you are Suppling the Labor, then the Cost to Replace the Crankshaft is Reasonable. Other than the Sump Gasket, if you are Carefull you can Usually Remove the Old Crankshaft and Replace the New One without Damaging the Seals. I Could Not Locate the OH195EA-71156G Engine; However I Did Locate a OH195EA-71165G Engine. The Crankshaft can be Purchased from Outdoor Distributors for $64.95us. Outdoor Distributors can Assist you in Locating the Sump Gasket. There Contact Information is; http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and the Phone # 1-877-707-2787. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
