Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): split axle issue, wheels tires, shear pin

Question
I have an older John Deere 832 snowblower..All was fine with the machine until last snowfall..seems the axle is just spinning inside of the split axle housing.I have started to take it apart and now it seems to be moving the axle when i spin the wheels..Can you tell me if there is a shear pin or a locking mechanism that has broken or is the axle in need of replacement,,

Thanks

Answer
Hello Ron:

You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers (832) and Click Find. Then Select your Unit from the Results Area. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Unit you Wish to View Online. From Your Description it Sounds like the "Groove Pin" has Sheared. Look in the Differential, Wheels, Tires and Axles File. The "Groove Pin is #6A in the Breakdown. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
