Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Scag STT wont stay running, proper manuals, spec numbers

Question
QUESTION: I have a Scag STT 61" with a Kolher CommandPro 25 that won't continue to run. When I start it with the key it fires and runs but when I release the key from the start position to the run position it stalls. I have soaked and cleaned the carb already.

ANSWER: Hello Rick:

The Ign Switch May be Bad. Check the Current Going to the Carburetor Solenoid. If the Voltage to the Carburetor Solenoid is Not Present when the Ign Switch is in the Run Position, then the Carburetor Solenoid is Shutting the Engine Off. Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine and the Mower Model Numbers, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manuals and Better Assist you. The Engine Model Numbers May be Stamped Into the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) Above the Spark Plug. Thanks.

QUESTION: John
The engine model CH25S Spec 68579 Disp. 725cc Mower Model STT61-25CH Serial 3861627

ANSWER: Hello Again Rick:

You can View a Breakdown of this Unit at this Site Addy; http://scag.com/manuals.html and Select STT - Turf Tiger. Then Select the Parts List Download. I Looked at the Electrical Diagrams and Unless there is a Bad Safety Switch, then a Bad Ign Switch is the Only Other Cause for the Problem you Described. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model and Spec Numbers (CH25S-68579). Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Engine you Wish to View. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck

QUESTION: I have replaced the ing. switch and the relay and it still has the same problem do you any other suggestions

Answer
Hi Rick:

Wow!!! This is Going to be a Tough One. Have you Checked the Safety Switches Yet. **PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHECKING THE SAFETY SWITCHES IS JUST THAT!!! FOR CHECKING ONLY. I NEVER Suggest a Mower be Operated with a Safety Device or Switch Disconnected or Bypassed. Now. On Some Model Mowers you can Simply Unplug the Safety Switch from the Harness. On Other Models you have to Place a Jumper Wire Between the Harness Terminals (on the 4 Post Switch Jumper from Same Color Wire to Same Color Wire). Check the Clutch/Break and the Blade/PTO Safety Switches First. Check the Seat Safety Last. Usually the Seat Safety is Not in the System for Starting the Engine. Just to Ensure Someone is in the Seat when Engaging the Transaxle and/or Blades.** If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
