Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Snowmobile question, cam lobes, valve clearances

Question
Helly John,
I have a 1999 Yamaha Venture 700, and I am having problems with her not going full throttle. On idle it runs normal and sounds normal. Once throttle applied, it begins to bog out. I have taken out the carbs and cleaned them up and still have this issue. I may have gotten some snow in the tank while refueling with a jerry can. I am stumped and cannot figure what else it can be..thought it was the carbs. Any idea? I appreciate the help!

Answer
Hello Dave:

Check the Valve Clearances and the Cam Lobes. I have 2 in the Shop Right Now with the Same Problem. Both had New Carburetor Installed and then they brought them here. The Cam Lobes were Worn Down and the Valve Clearance were too Wide for the Engine to at Any RPM Higher than 1/2 Throttle.  You can View a Breakdown of this Unit at this Site Addy; http://www.xtremepowersports.com/ATV_Parts__Where_America_goes_/atv_parts__where... .  If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
