Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Murray snowblower - no auger power, murray snowblower, shear bolts

Question
After 9 years, snowblower auger suddenly stopped turning when in snow.  Runs fine with no load, but stops in snow. Changed belt and didn't fix problem.  2nd stage impeller runs fine.  Do you think it is the input worm shaft and worm gear that are worn out or do you think I broke a woodruff key in the output shaft? The sudden auger problem seems to point to a key, but I would like your advice.  Thanks, David in Maine.

Answer
Hello David:

Sorry for the Delay. I had to Purchase a New PC and then Switch my Files and Records from the Old One. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Unit, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Check the Shear Bolts for the Auger First. If the Shear Bolts are OK, then Check the Woodruff Key. If this is OK, then Check the Worm Gear Pin (Depends on the Model). Go to this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM (Murray) and Enter the Model Numbers. Then Double Click on your Model in the Results Area. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
