Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): friction wheel, friction wheel, rubber gasket

Question
QUESTION: You diagnosed an issue with an MTD 8/26 snowblower 318-586-027 regarding the frictional wheel assembly. I am experiencing the same issue where teh rubber friction whel has worn off and it is metal on metal.I bought part 935-0243B, do I have to stretch this rubber gasket to fit on the metal disk or is this the wrong part

ANSWER: Hello Jim:

Some Models Use a 2 Piece Assembly for the Friction Wheel and the Rubber can be Replaced. Other Model have a 1 Piece Assembly and the Rubber Can Not be Replaced. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Mower at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model Numbers. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View. Select the Last File that Says Parts, Snow Thrower and you can See the Friction Wheel Assembly and the Part Number. The Friction Wheel Part Number for this Unit is MTD PN 05080 and According to the Breakdown you have a 1 Piece Assembly on this Unit. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

QUESTION: I purchased the right friction wheel. However, I was able to remove the old one because there was no rubber onit. Because the new one has the rubber on it I can't get it past the axle and sprocket that are there and it doesn't look like they are removable in anyway. any ideas on how I can get the new part back on

Answer
Hello Again Jim:

You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Unit at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model Numbers. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Unit you Wish to View. Select the Last File that Says Parts, Snow Thrower and you can See the Friction Wheel Assembly and the Part Number. Looking at this Breakdown; The Sliding Bracked Assembly (#10) should Move Enough to Allow for the Replacement of the Friction Wheel. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
