Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): motor put puts after runing for about 4-5 mins, 6 digits, 4 digits

Question
B&S Mod #12H 802 type 2611-B1 Code 00081857 6HP Quatium. I rebuilt the motor new rings ground valves. Starts and runs great for about 4-5 minutes then motor slows down and begins to go Putt Putt. I let it cool off and start it again and does same thing. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Answer
Hello Frank:

Did you Set the Valve Clearance Properly? You have to Lightly Grind the Valve Stems Until the Proper Clearance is Achieved Between the Tappet and Valve Stem. If the Clearance is to Close, this Problem will Occur. Did you Deglaze the Cylinder? You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model (5 or 6 Digits) and Type Numbers (first 4 digits Only). Example: XXXXXX-XXXX. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Engine you Wish to View. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
