Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Victa 2-Stroke Carburettor, spec numbers, needle valve

Question
QUESTION: I have a question regarding my old lawn mower. It is a Victa GTS 2-stroke which is 10+ years old. It has been services sparingly over its long life and I recently attempted a service on the mower, including air filter, spark plug and also took the head off and cleaned out the inside thoroughly. I also unscrewed the primer bulb plate and could not reinstall it once more as it was warped. I bought a replacement part and also the replacement screw with the hole in the centre (needle?) and everything seemed fine. The first mow, the mower seemed great. When I went to start it up the second time, i found the primer bulb to be leaking quite profusely and also the one time i did get it to start, the throttle control seemed to be a bit off. I have come to the conclusion this is a carburettor issue, but i have no idea of how to disassemble and clean it out. If you can provide me with some assistance here, that would really be great. Thanks in advance, Jason.

ANSWER: Hello Jason:

Victa is the Brand of Mower. The Engines on Most Victas were Briggs. Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Model Numbers May be Stamped Into the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) Above the Spark Plug. Your Problem Sounds like the Carburetor Flot Needle Valve is Not Seating Correctly and Flooding the Engine. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck

QUESTION: Hi John, I've had a look on the blower housing and can only see these numbers stamped near the carburettor 'L93 A2 EN72916Z'. There aren't any other codes visibly stamped anywhere. The mower is a Victa Commando GTS with electronic ignition and V35 engine pack. I hope this helps, thanks.

ANSWER: Hello Again Jason:

Thanks for the Numbers. I Do Not have the Microfiche for this Engine. I have Contacted Victa AU and they will have an Answer for me within 72 Hrs. I will Send you a Follow Up Responce as Soon as I have Correspondence from Victa. Thanks.

QUESTION: Hi John, I have previously contacted Victa AUS and they have mentioned I require a Gregory's manual - Small Engines #426 if that is of any help at all. I await your reply, thanks mate.

Answer
Hi Jason:

They are Correct. I Found Notes from Other Questioners that Asked About Breakdowns for the Victa Engines and I had to Instruct them to Purchase the Haynes/Gregory Manual # 426. You can Purchase the Manual Online at this Site Addy; http://www.haynes.com.au/category50_1.htm and Scroll to the Bottom of the Page. Most Carburetors are Basically the Built the Same. There May be a Different Jet or Float, but a General Carburetor Breakdown May be All you Require. The Following Instructions will take you to a Breakdown of the 2 Most Common Carburetors in Use Today. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the 2 Carburetors at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM (Briggs) and Enter the Model (5 or 6 Digits) and Type Numbers (31C707-0240). Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now Select the Carburetor Assembly File. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
