Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): timing on toro 524 snowblower, toro 524 snowblower, assembly drawings

Question
John,
What is the proper way to time this engine? It is an older Toro that still has points. I am replacing the points,  condensor and coil.
Thanks Kevin

Answer
Hello Kevin:

I Think you are Asking How to Set the Point Set Gap. Turn the Engine and Watch the Point Set Plunger. When the Plunger Extends, then Stop Turning the Engine and Set the Point Set Gap to .020in. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/default.cfm and Select Start Parts Viewer. Now Enter the Model Numbers. Now Select View Assembly Drawings. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
