Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Poulan 180 Pro chainsaw spitting fuel out intake, reed valve, carburator

Question
I have a Poulan 180 Pro that runs good but is spitting gas/oil vapor out the inatke of the carburator. Is there another port on the carb that could be plugged up or maybe the intake valve stuck?

Thanks!

Answer
There may be a reed valve on the engine that could cause the problem.  Almost all the Poulan equipment we service have the problem you describe.  Blow back mist comes out the carburetor.  While we see this often it appears not to harm the engine or decrease performance.

If the saw is old I would not worry about your issue unless the saw will not run at all.
Let me know if this helps.
