Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Old Ariens Snowblower, ariens snowblower, friction wheel

Question
I have a 1969 Ariens 10962 Tractor with a Sno-Thro attachment.  I put it in reverse and it started moving but then stopped.  I can not get it to go forward or backward now and the auger won't move either.  I didn't hear any bangs or anything like that.  The engine is fine.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Hello Dave:

You can View a Breakdown of the Mower at this Site Addy; http://www.jackssmallengines.net/parts.asp and Select Shop Online Parts Look Up. The Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM (Ariens) and Enter the Model Numbers. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Select the Tractor Parts File. The Crankshaft Key Might have Sheared. The Belt May have Broken. The Friction Wheel May be Bad. The Rension Spring May have Broken. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
