Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Snapper Snowthrower Model 95288E, mouse nest, plyers

Question
Hi John-

Purchased a this unit NEW in Feb. Had a mouse nest removed from the carb intake (B&S Intek) during the summer and unit ran rough after removal. Dealer adjuster carb, seemed to run fine when picked up (short demo). Now it will only run well for a few minutes then starts running rough...like running out of fuel... then stops. Restarts when primed and choked but repeats soon after. Took off fuel bowl, no dirt issues noted and carb looks clean. However, fuel did not pour out of fuel valve when I took off the bowl. Any ideas? Machine makes a great paper weight for now! Help..it's snowing in Michigan!

Answer
Hello Craig:

I had a Questioner Told me About a Spray Carburetor Cleaner that Just May Work in Your Case.  It is an Auto Zone brand “Valucraft Carb Cleaner” Part Number: AZ-4, 13 ounces in a yellow and black aerosol can with a red plastic cap. It sells for $1.60 to $2.50 per can. The Carburetor Float Needle Valve is Sticking. Use Vice Grip Plyers and Clamp Off the Fuel Line. Use Just Enough Pressure to Stop the Gas Flow and Not Damage the Fuel Line. Remove the Gas Line from the Carburetor Inlet Port. Spray the Carburetor Cleaner Into the Carburetor Port and then Lightly Tap on the Side of the Carburetor. The Float Should Drop. Now Gently Move the Float Up and Down Until the Float Moves Freely. Replace the Hose and Bowl. Release the Gas Line. This should Cure the Problem. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
