Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Switch, switch jumper, jumper wire

Question
Okay so i have had some problems with it before.. Recently i just had the engine re-built and also installed a new carb.... Recently the spring loaded switch that is pushed in when the unit is in neutral has been giving me problems. When you go to take the unit out of (N) to go forward or reverse the unit will cut off.. So i tried to bypass the switch by wiring the two pink wires together. I can now atleast drive the unit but now when i go to turn the mower/bladeson the unit cuts off... Any answers?????

Answer
Hello AJ:

The Problem is the Seat Safety Switch or the Interlock Relay (if it has One). Check the Seat Safety Switch. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHECKING THE SAFETY SWITCHES IS JUST THAT!!! FOR CHECKING ONLY. I NEVER Suggest a Mower be Operated with a Safety Device or Switch Disconnected or Bypassed. Now. On Some Model Mowers you can Simply Unplug the Safety Switch from the Harness. On Other Models you have to Place a Jumper Wire Between the Harness Terminals (on the 4 Post Switch Jumper from Same Color Wire to Same Color Wire). The Seat Safety is Showing No One is Seating in the Seat when the Clutch or Blades are Engaged. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
