Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh engine 143584082 valve timing, cam shaft, cam gear

Question
Hi John,
I have an old tecumseh engine, model # 143584082, I have the cam and lifters out of it, I'm not sure how to put it back together with the right valve timing. I dont see any real timing marks on the crank or the cam shaft. Can you help me or tell me where I can get a picture and instructions of how to do this?
Thank you,
Jim

Answer
Hello Jim:

There should be a Dimple in the Outer Edge of the Cam Gear in Line with a Gap Between the Teeth and the Crankshaft Gear should have a Mark that is On a Tooth that is Aligned to Match the Location of the Dimple on the Cam Gear. Since this is a Tecumseh Engine, I have a PDF Site Addy that May Assist you Also. http://www.tecumsehpower.com/CustomerService/BSI.pdf Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
