Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs carb needle valve, carburetor nozzle, needle valve

Question
in a response to AJM on flooding of the B&S engine and his ? on the solenoid, you mentioned a carburetor needle valve not seating. Does it go by another name as I have the same issue and the parts manual doesn't list it by that name. Is it the float needle valve or the carburetor nozzle. I got the whole overhaul kit but if I only have to change one thing I'd rather do that.

PS will a fuel solenoid dry out from getting gas leaked into it when taking the darn thing off or is it shgot just becasue of that. It worked before I took it off the bowl but it doesn't now.

Answer
Hello Tom:

The Carburetor Needle Valve is Connected to the Float in the Carburetor and is Also Called the Float Needle Valve. The Solenoid is an Anti-Dieseling Solenoid and Stops the Gas from Entering the Carburetor Jet when the Ignition Switch is Turned to the Off Position. It Has to be Grounded to Function. The Solenoid is Sealed and the Gas Can Not Enter the Solenoid to Damage it.  Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.
