Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): KOHLER cv22s no charging, regulator rectifier, charging system

Question
John, I have a Craftsman tractor with a kohler cv22s type 75534. I noticed that my charging system is not working any more. At the rectifier regulator, I have 12v, 24v and 24v when loocking ar it with the 3 terminals facing down. At the battery, I have 11.6v when running. The battery is only a month old so I know it is OK. Is my stator or my regulator/rectifier the problem?

Answer
Hello Eric:

Usually with a Charging System that has the Regulator/Rectifier Separate from the Stator, the Regulator/Rectifier gets All the Abuse from the Charging System and Goes Bad. Very Seldom Does the Stator Go Bad in this Type of Charging System. Replace the Regulator/Rectifier. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model Numbers. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Engine you Wish to View. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
