Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): BRIGGS MODEL 42A707, briggs and stratton, hose clamps

Question
HELLO I HAVE A BRIGGS AND STRATTON MODEL 42A707 AND IT STARTS FINE AND WILL RUN FOR A WHILE THEN ACTS LIKE ITS STARVING FOR FUEL. I ADD MORE CHOKE AND IT WILL RUN FOR A WHILE BUT STARTS THE SAME THING. I WAS THINKING FUEL PUMP BUT IT DOES NOT APPEAR TO HAVE ONE ON IT. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST? THANKS!

Answer
Hello Mark:

Check the Gas Tank Cap and Ensure it is Venting the Gas Tank. A Vacuum will Occur in the Tank and Restrict the gas Flow to the Carburetor Pump. Check the Vacuum Line from the Engine to the Carburetor Pump. Replace the Spring Style Hose Clamps with Screw Style Hose Clamps. I Just Repair One Yesterday with the Same Symptoms and the Hose Clamps were the Cause of this Problem. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model Numbers. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Engine you Wish to View. Select the Carburetor File. The Carburetor Fuel Pump (Shown as the Kit) is Breakdown Number 861A. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
