Towing Issues: car towed without knowing, police department website, apartment management

Question
I live in an apartment complex in glendale, arizona and my car which is broken and with expired tags got towed.  It is in our lease that they can do this, which I am okay with.  But what I am not okay with is we never got a written letter, notice, or phone call about it being towed.  We didn't fnd out until over 2 weeks later which added quite  bit of fees and issues.  My question is, is there any law that states if a vehicle is towed without the owner there, do they have to give them a notice letting them know about it?  Any info on this would be apreciated

Answer
As a general rule, notices of pending towing, can be as simple as a sticky note on the vehicle windows...

Now you mention that it is in your lease that unlicensed (expired tags) and inoperative vehicles will be towed... A court would uphold that as notice to you.

Now I know what you are asking, but how long was it from when it was towed to you noticing it was gone??
That is also an issue here.

As to knowing who towed it, generally there are signs at the entrances to the apartment parking lots which state who and how to contact the tow company involved...

Not I am assuming that you got a certified letter stating your vehicle had been towed and the amount due to redeem the vehicle.. I am guessing that is what you are talking about.  Yes that is a "legal notice" it was towed, but do not confuse that with the simple warning you might be towed which would of been on the vehicle...

Now the apartment management will sometimes be "kind enough" to knock on doors and such, but it does not happen a lot or often...

I also know that the City of Glendale has either changed or is changing laws regarding towing from private property, and as such some of the information I have is out dated...   But you can check out the City Website or the Police department website and see what laws are in effect currently.
