Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): lawn mower lights, light brackets, ground wires

Question
Hey,
Its me Matthew again. Yes! The 2 lights have a hot and a ground wire. The 2 hot wires go in one end and then goes from there to the switch and I have the 2 ground wires on the light beakits. Also I know the ground wire on the switch is good because if the ground on the switch was not good then the light would not come on in the switch or was I the lucky one and got one with a bad switch is there a way to see if the wire is getting juse and I cleaned the terminal on the battery. So I don't get why the lights will not come on and it came with a fuse and that is still good. My email is imtractormatt@msn.com

Thanks and have a great day!!          Matthew

Answer
Here we go.

Hot wire from battery to switch, hot wire from switch to lights.

Ground wire 1. From switch to ground

Ground wire 2.  From light to mounting bracket, from mounting bracket to battery.  On this last step the ground has to get back to the battery through the frame.  The light brackets cannot be mounted to the hood,  or the side panels.  They have to be mounted solidly to the frame to get a good ground.  If they are on the hood or side panels you will need to run a ground wire to the frame or engine.
