Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Homelite Blower 1 1/2 years old, spark plug wire, plug hole

Question
It has been progresively getting harder to start. Has a brand new plug,
all checks out well except appears to have no spark in the plug..
how can I fix myself?

Answer
The best method for checking coils is to dis-assemble the unit to the point where you can access the coil.  Dis-connect the small wire on the coil and then re-check for spark.  With the spark plug removed, connect it to the spark plug wire.  Ground the tip of the plug to the metal near the spark plug hole, pull the string and check for spark.
