Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): honda GX670 24 hrsp., hrsp, tension spring

Question
John, I have installed a 670 on a small air boat turning a 42" propeller. I have checked the rpm with a vibratact - I am only putting out 2,600 rpm - how can I adjust the governor to get more rpm's???  Thank  you.

Answer
Hello Tom:

You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, http://hayward.arinet.com/scripts/EmpartISAPI.dll?MF&app=ASP&lang=EN&TF=Mainfram... and Select the Catalog American Honda. You Increase the RPMs Using the Spring to the Governor Arm by Actually Replacing the Spring with a Higher Tension Spring, Shortening the Spring Already there or Bent the Tab on the Piviot of the Throttle Control Bracket that the Spring is Attached to. I Suggest No More Than 3200 RPMs. You can Go Higher, but Do So At your Own Risk. Usually Over 3200 and the Engine will Wear Out Prematurely. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
