Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Crankshaft to camshaft timing, sears craftsman, crankshaft

Question
I am working on a 6.25hp b&s lawnmower from sears(craftsman)
How are the timing marks aligning. I have a dot on the crank and a groove on the cam. Do these line up exactly or offset by a tooth.
Your help would be much appreciated

Answer
Hello Rob:

The Cam Groove Should be Located Between the Teeth and the Dot on the Crankshaft Should be Located on a Tooth. Line the Tooth with the Dot (Crankshaft) to the Groove Between the Teeth (Cam). Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
