Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Stator for John Deere 111 with electric PTO, hp engine, dual circuit

Question
QUESTION: I need to repower my tractor. It has the original 11 hp B&S engine (252707
code 0644). I have found a 12 hp engine but will need to use my stator and
diode since the 12hp is a dual circuit. Is this an easy swap? Will my stator fit
up to a 14.5 hp engine if I can find one? I'm somewhat limited in choices
since an engine with OHV will not fit.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

ANSWER: Hello Rick:

You Don't have to Change the Stator. Send me the Model Numbers Off the 12 hp Engine, Please. I can Instruct you on How to Wire the Dual Stator to Operate with your Harness. Also, with the Model Numbers I can Then Tell you If the Stators will Interchange. Thanks.

QUESTION: The 12 HP B&S engine (Model 284707 Code 1026e1) which has a dual circuit
alternator. Mine only has one wire (Black) and at one time had a green
connector. I've read that electric PTO's need a certain amperage and that the
alterator must supply this and extra in order to keep the battery charged. It
appears the dual circuit has a DC and AC output. From info I got off a small
engine seller, the dual circuit can put out 2-4 A DC and 14 volts AC
minimum. How much would 14 volts AC be in Amps when converted to DC?
Would it be a matter of directly connecting the DC side to the battery and
adding the diode from my current engine to the AC side and connecting it to
the battery? Would this provide enough DC amperage to run the electric PTO
and charge the battery?

Or do I swap stators (mine for the new one)? According to the info I have, a
tri-circuit stator, a 9A alternator stator and a 5A alternator stator is the same
part #. How can one part output 3 different options? Would I need to use my
flywheel too?
ANSWER: Hello Again Rick:

For these Engines you Need to Change the Stator from your Old Engine to the Replacement Engine. Where did you Find the  Same Part Number for the Stators for this Engine. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the B. Then Select Briggs and Stratton. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Select the File #25.  Then Select the Folder #252700. This is the Original Engine Breakdown/IPL. I See 3 Part Numbers Listed, 393474, 392595 and 393295. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let Me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

QUESTION: OK, now I'm confused. I went to the IPL you mentioned. It shows the alternator
for code type 0644 to be part # 393474. Reference 474A. On the diagram it
shows the 474A as being a dual circuit. Mine only has 1 wire. I would have
expected it to be 474C which is a 10A unit.

Thanks

Answer
Hello Again Rick:

No Worries. Each One will Interchange. Depending on the Model Engine, the Stator is Designed Differently. Switch the Stator from One Engine to the Other and you will be Good. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let Me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.
