Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): power loss when engaging mower deck, briggs and stratton, tank lines

18 hp sears LT1000 starts fine , but takes a few seconds to run full power.. as soon as you engage mower deck, immediate loss of power.  still runs, but will run likes its in low gear and will stall immediately when you cut grass...  please help... briggs and stratton 18 hp intek..      thanks

This must be dirty carb day. five out of seven questions today have been almost the same question. Next time you turn on the deck engage the choke at the same time and then ease the choke off. If it runs ok on choke it needs a good carb cleaning. Remember clean tank,lines and replace the fuel filter so you don't have to the job twice.
