Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawn Tractor Too Rich?, carburetor rebuild kit, briggs and stratton

Question
19.5 HP Briggs & Stratton 42e707 type 2631-e1.

The engine has been running poorly, loping, running high rpm to low rpm and unresponsive throttle.

I've installed a carburetor rebuild kit, and now gas is pouring onto the top of the carburetor intake pan (where the air filter housing sits) it appears to be spraying up from the carburetor intake port.

I disconnected the governor, arnd throttle linkage because it was not working anyway, now I am at a loss what to do next?

Answer
Hello Steve:

The Float is Stuck and Allowing the carburetor to Flood. Disassemble the Carburetor and Reassemble. Watch Carefully when Reassembling. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the B. Then Select Briggs and Stratton. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Select the File #42.  Then Select the Folder #42E700. You can Alos try this Site Addy for a Braekdown/IPL: http://shop.briggsandstratton.com/BShopProductListingPage.asp?rsvp=0&PARENTID=0&... and Enter the Model And Type Numbers. Then Select View PDF. Once you have the Carburetor Working Properly; Email me Again for the Instruction for Setting the Governor. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let Me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
