Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 82 Murray riding lawnmower w/12 hp engine, murray riding lawnmower, hp engine

 Hi. I bought this thing pretty used and it will crank and run for about a full
minute and then shut right off like it's got something in the gas line or filter. It
won't start afterward unless I wait about an hour. What should I check out first
on this thing?

Is the Gas Free Flowing to the Carburetor? If Yes, Is the Spark Plug Firing when this Happens? If Yes, then the Carburetor needs to be Removed, Disassembled and Soaked Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner. Then Blow out the Passages with Compressed Air. Install New Kit. If No, then the Coil/Ignition Module May Require Replacing. Does the Carburetor have a Fuel Shut Off Solenoid in the Carburetor Bowl. If Yes, then This May be Bad. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance.
