Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): overfilled oil in mower, breather vent, crankcase breather

Can overfilled oil in the lawnmower damage the mower? Mine is smoking and I don't know how to get the excess oil out?

Sorry for the Delay. This Question was Located in the
Question Pool. Usually No Damage will Occur. You May have to Remove and Clean the Crankcase Breather/Vent. There Should be a Drain Plug. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower and Engine, Please.
