Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman Weed Trimmer bogs down., craftsman weed trimmer, air mixture

Question
QUESTION: Trimmer starts up fine.  Will idle.  When I give it some throttle, it bogs down and eventually dies.  If I can keep it running, there is simply no power.
ANSWER: Hello Bill:

Remove the Muffler and Ensure the Exhaust Port and Muffler are Not Clogged with Carbon. Check the Spark Arrestor Screen too. If these Are Clear, Check the Compression. If the Compression is Good, then the Carburetor needs to Be Cleaned and Rebuilt or the Air Mixture Screws Need Adjusting. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Trimmer, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

QUESTION: Thanks John.  I did remove the muffler and noticed a good amount of carbon in there.  I started the trimmer up and it accelerated like normal.  I'm now on the way of getting it fixed. Should I be able to buy just the screen or the whole muffler?

Answer
Hello Bill:

Be Sure to Remove the Carbon from the Exhaust Port. As for the Muffler, if the Muffler is Good and the Spark Arrestor Screen is Replaceable, then Replace the Screen. I have to Leave that Decision Up to You. Im Glad I was Able to Assist. Till Next Time. May the Almighty Bless You and Yours and May All your Mechanical Problems Be SMALL ONES.
