Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 21 Hp Husqavarna, float bowl, debris

Question
Hello and thanks for your time.  I have a 21Hp B&S Motor and it ran fine last summer but I tried to crank it this spring and it spit out black smoke and stalled out on me when I engaged the blades. I drained all the gas and replaced the plugs but it is still stalling when I engage the blades and cuts off.  Can you please help me with this THANKS!!!!!

Answer
Black smoke means rich, always!
The problem wasn't the gas in your tank or lines. It's the fuel and debris left in you carb from last year.
Drop your float bowl and clean it, and the needle and seat thoroughly, clean the main jet while you're there.
Use a good quality flammable carb cleaner. Cheap and non-flammable cleaners just don't work as well. You get what you pay for.
You also must change your oil. You WILL have fuel in it also.
