Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 5 HP Briggs and Stratton NO POWER !, briggs and stratton, hp briggs

Question
I have a Briggs 5 HP motor Model # 130232 type 0135. 2 or 3 pulls and it starts. However doesn't get up to full speed,(bogs down) NO load on it. As if it's not getting gas...but it is. Even changed the diaphram next to the carb, pick up tube in tank is OK(not clogged) I changed the plug, cleaned out the carb, gas tank ok...It will run for ever just can't get it to rev up to engage a clutch on a go cart all the way. I have a 2 governor springs that are broken( one by the carb, and one on the rod from the back of the motor. I was wondering if that model has points, and could that be a reason also?

Answer
 Hello Tom:

Depending on the RPMs, you May have Exceeded the Carburetors Ability to Feed the Engine the Gas Required to Rev Higher (CFMs). The Point Set (yes this Engine Has Points) Will Float at High RPMs. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Addy http://shop.briggsandstratton.com/BShopProductListingPage.asp?rsvp=0&PARENTID=0&... and Enter the Model and Type Numbers and Click Search. Then Select View PDF. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
