Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): i think i broke it?, crankshaft seal, briggs stratton

Question
I hit a small dead tree stump with my craftsman 7.0/briggs & stratton/push behind mower/model #917-378941. The mower stopped immediately and when I repeatedly tried to restart it later, but it shook hard and died. It is now 4 days later and there is a huge oil leak coming out from under the mower. I bought this about 2yrs ago for 300.00. I don't know a lot about small engines, but it looks like it could be costly, maybe I broke the shaft? ooh and earlier that same day my son hit a water valve handle and bent the blade into a candy cane shape(I replaced that already). What do think about repair? or should i junk it? thank you

Answer
 Hello Stonich:

If Sounds like the Crankshaft is Bent and the Flywheel Key has Sheared. I Charge $30.00 to Straighten a Crankshaft after it has been Removed from the Mower Frame. The Lower Crankshaft Seal Replacement is Included in My Price. The Total for Straightening the Crankshaft and Replacing the Flywheel Key is Usuall about $75.00 to $100.00 Depending on Shop Prices in your Area. You can Replace the Flywheel Key Yourself, But you Can't Straighten the Crankshaft. I Suggest you Contact your Local Small ENgine Service Center and Price the Required Repairs and then Make a Decision. Hope this Helps. I am here if you require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
