Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Engine doesnt start or stall, exhaust port, fuel cap

Question
HONDA OHC GCV160 5.5, YARD KING:
I can't get it start.  I tried to start by spraying a squirt of "engine starting fluid".  It starts, then die immediately.  I seems like the fluid is not reaching the carburetor or the carburetor is plugged.  There is gas up to the carburetor.

Next: POULAN PRO PPB 2000LC BLOWER:
Engine starts fine and it runs good for about 5 minutes.  Then the engine die and can't get it restarted.  Somehow, engine doesn't start when it is hot.

Thank you.

Answer
 Hello KC:

1- The Honda needs to have the Carburetor Removed, Disassembled, Soaked Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner, the Passages Blown Out with Compressed Air and a New Lit Installed.

2- On the Blower, Remove the Muffler and Check the Exhaust Port and Muffler for Blockage. Check for Fire at the Plug when the Engine Quits. If No Fire the Coil is Bad. If there is Fire, then Check the Fuel Cap and Ensure it is Venting. Change the Fuel Filter in the Tank. Check the Compression when the Engine is Cold and then Again when the Engine Quits. It May Need to have New Rings. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
