Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): my lawn mower smokes, liburary, rip cord

i changed the oil and made sure it was the right grade and it still smokes and get really hot after 1 minute of use. it quits and i want to repair it but i cant find any do it yourself guides for free anywhere could you send me an engine parts diagram explaining the parts and showing me how to fix it? and my rip cord ripped and my self propelled doesn't work. when i flip the switch it doesn't go. I'm only 16 yrs old and i don't have a job so buying a manual is not an option. we got the lawn mower from a friend can you help me out. by telling me where to get a free manual for my lawn mower or send me one or something? also i cant affoard parts and my mom and my sister and her kids just moved into a new house so i wont be seeing a new lawn mower anytime soon. LOL

my advise to you>  is as follows.  with out alittle more  about this mower>?  make model, type, numbers,  i have no idea.
as for at 16 repairing it your self?   you need to study a few books.   see your local  liburary, or school for this .  they have books on how to do .
