Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ariens 5hp snowblower, crankcase pressure, merry christmas and happy new year

Question
I have a rough 1975 Ariens 5hp snowblower.  I am pretty sure it has a tecumseh engine.  It runs great, has plenty of compression with pull start, and does a great job.  This year I have noticed a lot of oil spraying out of the crankcase vent tube.  In 2 hours of use, I had to add 1 qt. of oil!  While the engine was running, I opened the oil fill/check, and there was a lot of pressure.  It seems to me that there is too much crankcase pressure.  What is the problem?  It runs and starts great.

Answer
 Hello Eric:

Have you Checked the Crankcase Vent? If the Engine has Cracked a Ring this will Happen. If the Crankcase Vent is Bad this will Happen. Overfilled with Oil and this Happens. A Leaking Head Gasket will Cause this on Some of the Tecumseh Engines. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks. Be Safe.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John

PS: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year (:-))
