Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Blower Only runs with the choke on., time jim, small engines

Question
2 stroke Toro. Bought used. Hadn't run in 2+ years replaced gas. Ran it for quite a while but always dies when disengaging the choke. Any ideas, I have little experience with small engines.
