Answer
 Hello Cabell:

From Looking at The Breakdown of the Mower, I am Lost. The Electrical Schematic Show Two 2 Wire Pigtails for this Mower. 1 Pigtail is for the Stator(charging system) and the Other is for the Carburetor Shutoff/Afterfire Solenoid. Go to this Addy http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Parts Look Up Box. Then Select the OEM(Murray) and Enter the Model Numbers 40536X4A and Click Find. Then Double Click on the Model in the Search Results Area. This will Open a New Window for you to View the Mower in a Breakdown/IPL Form. Select the Electrical System. Did the Old Engine have the Carburetor Shutoff/Afterfire Solenoid? If No, then this is the Extra Pigtail on the Engine. If Yes, then Send me the Model Numbers Off BOTH Engines, Please. With these I can Locate Breakdowns/IPL's of Both Engines and Compare the Electrical Systems. Usually there is a Pigtail for the Stator and One Wire from the Coil/Armature that Come Out from Under the Blower Housing and Connect into the Harness. If the Engine has the Carburetor Solenoid, then there are 2 Pigtails. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks. Be Safe.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
