Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Chain Saw how to get running, plug gap, oil mixture

Question
John, Thanks for your reply.  I checked the CS and it looks real clean. No tarnish in the carberator and no fuel in the tank. I must have drained the gas when I stored it. What would the gas/oil mixture be? 1:40? I feel like trying to start it. How would you recommend I proceed? Just fill up the gas and pull the cord? I probably should check the spark plug. What would the the plug Gap? Appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance.
Jim

-----Question-----
Good morning, I have an older model McCullough CS, 20" chain. It was given to me by fatherinlaw. It's been sitting in the garage for approx 10 yrs, not used. What would you recommend to get started? Someone told me that the gas has probably dried and become tarnish. Could I fix it (no experience) or should I take it to a repair shop? I want to have a second saw next week to cut down some trees while son is visiting over Thanksgiving.
Thanks Jim

 Hello Jim:

If you are going to Do the Labor Yourself, then it May be Cost Effective to Repair this Saw. If you have it Repaired at a Shop; a New Saw would be Cheaper. The Carburetor will need to be Disassembled and Soaked at Least 24hrs in Carburetor Cleaning Solution(I use Gunk) and then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air. Install New Kit. I Suggest the Fuel Lines from the Tank to the Carburetor be Replaced Also. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Saw at this Addy http://www.buymtdonline.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/topcategory_10101_15601_-1 and Select Launch Illustrated Search Engine. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model Numbers. If a Breakdown/IPL of the Carburetor is Not Shown with the Saw; Let me know the OEM and Model Numbers Off of the Carburetor(Walbro, Zama, ect) and I can Locate a Breakdown/IPL of the Carburetor for you to View Online. I Have had People Do this Repair with No Experience, but they Looked at the Breakdown/IPL before Making the Decision to try this Repair. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck
